Find the gaps before the panel does.

Paste the advert. Zappli maps your experience to every essential and desirable criterion, names the ones you cannot evidence yet, and drafts the rest from what you have actually done, inside the word limit the advert states.

How it works

Paste the advert. The rest follows from it.

01

It reads the advert, not a template

Paste the person specification or upload the pack as a PDF. Zappli pulls out every criterion, keeps the advert's own reference numbers (Q1, E1 to E3, K1 to K3), splits essential from desirable, and records which stage each one is assessed at: the form, the interview, a presentation, a test or a lesson observation.

02

It shows you what you can already evidence

The coverage map compares each criterion against your evidence bank and tells you plainly which ones are covered, which are only partly covered, and which have nothing behind them yet. Where nothing lines up it says so, rather than dressing up a weak match. Your first advert is free.

03

It drafts from your evidence, never from thin air

Each statement is built from examples you supplied, returned as Situation, Task, Action and Result rather than joined-up prose, so Action and Result, the parts assessors actually mark, can be weighted and checked. The draft carries the IDs of the evidence it used, and the server rejects anything that cannot be traced back to something you wrote.

04

It holds the word limit the advert states

250 words on a behaviour, 750 across a statement of suitability, 1,500 shared across a leadership spec, two sides of A4 for a letter of application. The count runs live as you write and the server refuses to save an over-length answer. Where a limit is shared across several criteria, the budget is split across all of them.

05

It carries you into the interview

Your Interview Pack is built from the same evidence, and labels each criterion by where it is actually assessed: form and interview, form and presentation, or interview only. Where the advert asks for knowledge you have not evidenced, it prepares you for the question rather than pretending you have an answer.

06

It surfaces the checks buried in the pack

Enhanced DBS, barred list, prohibition from teaching, section 128, online searches on shortlisted candidates, right to work, overseas police checks. Zappli reads what the advert states and shows it back with the employer's own sentence underneath. Nothing inferred and no advice, just the thing you would otherwise miss on page nine.

Write an example once. Use it for the rest of your career.

Everything you evidence goes into your evidence bank and stays there. The next advert is checked against it in seconds, and the same examples feed your CV, your cover letter and your interview pack. Public sector people apply again and again, so the second application is always faster than the first.

Zappli will not invent an example. That is enforced in code, not promised in a prompt.

In a Civil Service or NHS application a fabricated example is a probity matter, and for someone already in public service it can be a dismissal matter. Every statement Zappli drafts returns the IDs of the evidence it drew on, and anything that cannot be traced back to something you wrote is rejected before you ever see it. If you have no example for a criterion, Zappli tells you that you have no example for that criterion.

Where it has been tested

Built for how British public bodies actually recruit.

NHS

Person specification, essential and desirable, and a supporting statement that has to show how you meet every criterion in the grid. No stated ceiling, so the risk is omission rather than overrun: the coverage map is built around proving you have covered everything. More on NHS applications.

Civil Service

Success Profiles. Behaviours listed by name and scored independently, 250 words each unless the advert says otherwise. Essential against desirable, the sift, and behaviours re-tested at interview. Exercised end to end against a live DWP SEO advert.

Teaching

Personal statement or letter of application, sized in words or sides of A4. Lesson observations, pupil and staff panels, data tasks and presentations read as their own stages. Safeguarding requirements (enhanced DBS, barred list, KCSIE online searches) are surfaced from the advert. Tested at primary, secondary and leadership level.

Local government

Numbered criteria, A/I/T assessment columns and a supporting statement with a stated word ceiling. Tested against a mock county council Grade 9 specification, with the advert's own references kept throughout, which matters, because council forms ask you to answer by number.

Universities, housing associations, arms-length bodies and most charities use the same essential-and-desirable shape and work the same way, but they have not been put through the same end-to-end testing, so we do not claim them. Scanned PDFs, specifications inside table images and Welsh-language adverts are not supported yet.

Questions

Public sector applications, answered.

Does Zappli write Civil Service behaviour statements?
Yes. It reads the behaviours the advert names, drafts each one from examples you have supplied as Situation, Task, Action and Result, and holds the word limit the advert states. It will not invent an example: every draft is traced back to evidence you wrote.
How long should a Civil Service behaviour statement be?
There is no single central rule. Many adverts set 250 words per behaviour, but the limit that counts is the one your advert states. Zappli reads that limit from the advert and keeps each draft inside it. Why the 250-word rule is not a rule.
What should an NHS supporting statement include?
It needs to show how you meet each criterion in the person specification, essential and desirable. There is usually no stated word ceiling, so the bigger risk is leaving a criterion out. Zappli's coverage map shows which criteria your evidence already covers and which have nothing behind them yet. See the NHS page, or read the guide to essential and desirable criteria.
Is the criterion coverage check free?
Your first advert is free. No card, no account. Paste the person specification and Zappli shows which criteria your experience already covers and which have nothing behind them yet.
Which frameworks are supported?
Civil Service Success Profiles, NHS person specifications, teaching applications and local government competency forms have all been tested end to end. Other public bodies using the same essential and desirable structure work the same way.
How much does it cost after the free check?
Supporting statements and behaviour statements are included with any pass: £9.99 for 7 days, £24.99 for 30 or £49.99 for 90. Each is a single payment that never renews, and your evidence bank stays with you for the next application.
